False

My mahjong buddy Uncle Cheung say we diabetic can eat sticky rice thing like rice cake 年糕, glutinous rice ball 糍粑 and zongzi no problem, because is natural grain from rice, not like white sugar, so the sugar come out slow slow inside stomach and not spike the blood sugar. He say in old days poor people eat 糯米 all the time and nobody get diabetes. So every morning I eat two three slice of 年糕 with porridge, and at festival I finish one whole zongzi by myself, thinking is slow sugar so no need to count. My wife say I am wrong but she only watch TV. My sugar reading after breakfast sometimes 13, sometimes 14, but maybe that from the porridge not the 年糕. Can you confirm is true that glutinous rice food is safe for diabetic because natural and slow sugar, so I can keep eating freely without checking? Do I really no need to cut down?
