False

My mahjong friends all say beer is far worse for gout than spirits like whisky or sorbitol — one beer sets off an attack while a small glass of spirits is fine — and that river fish and chicken are safe for gout but only sea shrimp and shellfish are dangerous. Is it true that beer triggers gout much more than hard liquor, and that freshwater fish will not cause attacks?
